Biography: May Hege Rygel

Born i Oslo 1952.

I have always been drawing and painting.
From 2002 interested in watercolours.

I have a Statement:

There is a lot of do’s and don’ts in traditional watercolour painting. But as a contemporary watercolour painter, I paint with a total freedom from the traditional watercolour method. I love to experiment with the treatment of paper and colour : I can apply colour in any way I like, and I can remove as much as I want, and paint on top of it. And I can use what ever I like to make just the watercolour i want. Watercolour is for me just a choice of painting material. I wish to express changes in moods and atmospheres. Calm restlessness. Balance and no balance. I do not think watercolour painting limit my need for expressing all that.
