Marco Cressotti, in the contemporary art scene, is all about research: colours, new and alternative materials and pictorial space exploration to play it in its many dimensions. A self-taught artist, Marco mixes pure instinct with reflection and rationality. Sense of discovery and experimenting, avant-garde context and original style are his framework. But also: interior curses freely expressed, no limits and no compromises.
In his works, what could appear just roughed out, is actually the result of a pondered and introspective investigation.
"Le figure leggere" is a series where textile strips are shaped in images - not so simple indeed, and yet immediate to the viewer’s eye; minimal challenging geometries with a natural energy; works studied into detail for a balanced movement, in a sort of “act of painting without painting” paradox. Textile matter in them is light and soft, reassuring and involving like a blanket or a sheet.
The series titled “I muri” uses materials that are coarse, rough, as seen in the building construction. Born in Milan where you live surrounded by walls, Marco recreates that feeling and setting with his walls, where you notice a true sense of rebellion, maybe abstract but conveying a strong impulse and thirst for escape.
Marco Cressotti therefore communicates love, beauty, fear, eroticism, life and death with the objective of sharing emotions. Sharing with others.
His works are both in public and private collections.
