Biografía: Lucy Hardie

"I am driven by the desire to help others experience a deeper connection with the part of us that always has been and always will be, free."

Lucy Hardie was born in Shepparton, Victoria, Australia. She began her education at a Waldorf school that her parents built on their farm and it was here that her artistic skills began to flourish. Surrounded by her Mother and Father's extensive book collection, she became immersed at a very early age in the work of Grunewald, Repin and the illustrations by H. J Ford and Ivan Bilibin.

Lucy held her debut solo exhibition in Melbourne in 2007, which sold out on opening night. She has since gone on to complete formal studies through a Bachelor of Illustration at NMIT in Melbourne and to have her work exhibited throughout Australia and internationally.

In 2009 Lucy participated in US artist Philip Rubinov Jacobson's Old Masters / New Visions, a painting seminar run annually in Austria. It was here that she was introduced to the 'mischtechnik', or mixed method of painting using a combination of egg tempera, oil and resin. An Old Masters technique, it has since seen a revival by Austrian artist Ernst Fuchs, founder of the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism.

Lucy's meticulous technique and mythopoeic imagery draws influence from a range of sources including the work of: Ernst Fuchs, Vali Myers, Zdzislaw Beksinski, Maura Holden, Albin Brunovsky and Vania Zouravliov. She is also fascinated by Integral Philosophy, fairy tales from around the world and death as a catalyst for transformation.
