Electronics and Communications engineer background, with an intense and sensitive love for arts.
On his early years, even before the kindergarten level, GUBAVE takes any kind of pencil and any piece of paper, and he starts drawing what on those days were his superheroes; Batman and Superman in fact. He draws cars detailing the smoke that they produce, with its characteristic black driver; red, blue and black. Proud of him, his father let him draw anything on the walls, “look to my little artist arts” he said when he saw him.
At elementary school, he uses his capacity to surprise his teachers and to keep the girls and friends attention; he won some two or three diplomas at that level art contests at school, nothing outstanding, but his parents put him in several summer courses, mostly related with painting, but never with professional teachers. On those days, after looking on his more elaborate paintings, his parents notice that he is “blind of color”, but it never mind, he just avoid the color usage.
As a teenager, art wasn´t on his preferences, but he still drawing at boring classes. Never mind, when he needed to decide for a professional career, he thought on his options, considering his country situation and what on those days was his life planning, so he avoid the Architecture or Graphic design careers, considering them a long term path for success life style. He took one of the most difficult professions on his days, the Electronics and Communications Engineering, as creativity, innovative and on fashion professional career.
On these days, being successful as an Information Technology Manager in some companies and just painting with oils, acrylics and watercolor as hobby, searching for the way and method to give a kind of live to the drawings and paintings, he took the plasticine and starts making human body forms –his passion considering them “the wonderful god machinery”. He notice how easy was for him making those figures, that he wonder about other materials.
Using the most wonderful that he has today, he search for clay selling; he asked to many people how to use it, he practice many times, but he notice that clay techniques are so difficult that he thought to leave sculpture.
Considering that is not the material on what his hands and mind depends on, he look for other materials that never broke when it dries and finally he discover wax as the material that now he use.
Without arts studies, without a teacher, just by himself, GUBAVE is now presenting his sculpture jobs hopping that many other people feel what he puts on each of his pieces; Love, dreams, feelings and all of himself.
