Biografía: Antonio Nunez

Antonio Nuñez was born and grew in the countryside near Havana Cuba. Since his childhood he was fascinated by drawing and painting. He recalls during his early days spending hours with his Grand Father making pictures with any material and media he could find.

When he finished his college education he had to work in a factory for the Cuban Department of Agriculture. He quickly managed to be part of the division of prototypes and artistic products expanding his horizons and working with various products and medias.

His talents were rapidly noticed and he was able to get access to the National School of Design in Havana while doing his job and graduated in 1978. However he quickly realized that not only he would not able to freely express himself with his art, but also he had no future in his country.

In 1980 he took the opportunity of the “Mariel Flotilla” to immigrate to the United States.
