Biography: Glenn Romasanta

I was born in Manila, Philippines and my parents immigrated to Canada in 1972.

As the youngest of six I was often left with my imagination. I could be found drawing and creating my own world underneath the kitchen table or in my dad’s workshop.

Growing up I was always involved in art, especially painting.

After high school I decided to go to college and become a graphic artist in advertising. Getting my degree at Seneca College of Art and Design.

After a brief taste of the industry, I made the decision to follow my bliss and live the life of an artist.

Painting has always been a way to express my thoughts and emotions. Ever since a mad crush with my grade one teacher, I knew painting would be my voice.

“ I am not an abstractionist. I’m not interested in the relationship of colour or form or anything else.

I’m interested only in expressing basic human emotions: ecstasy, doom and so on”

- Mark Rothko
