Born in a Friday in January, during the period when "Zorro" was in vogue,
I was given the name, Diego. What I did not know then and could only
learn with maturity was what constitutes being "a man".
My mother was the right person to entrust the nurturing of my artistic inclinations.
She possessed the necessary ingredients to create a being, not better or worse than any other,
but somehow, different; and it was in that environment that surrealism became
the missing piece that helped an adolescent understand "that being different isn't so bad after all".
If one can love and hate with the same intensity....then I first learned to hate.
Now I can use all that energy to love.
It's true Andrea, you cannot please everyone.
Those on the outside must follow their own path. "Truth has no master".
Why do I use the language of art and of images that everyone will
interpret as he or she wishes? I don't know.
Maybe it is more real that way.
