Biography: Klara Chavarria

Klara was born and raised in Guatemala City. She grew up in a family of artists. This artistic influence and a magical passion led her to begin studying painting when she was just eight years old.

After ten years of private study in painting, Klara studied Visual Communications and went on to complete a BFA, Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, at Kansas State University. She has been living in the United States since 1993 and after working in Graphic Design / Marketing for several years, Klara decided to follow her dream, devote herself to her artwork and became a professional working artist. For her, painting is an inner-search providing a creative outlet to communicate and express her interests, feelings and emotions. As such an integral part of her life, art allows her the opportunity to create, imagine, experiment, grow, communicate and to share her ideas with others.

Klara has a deep interest in life, nature, humanities, spirituality and social subjects. Klara works in a variety of mediums using layers of color, gestures, strokes and textures in her work.

Klara's work is in collections throughout the United States, Latin America and Europe, including a public collection piece exhibited at the Museum of Science and Industry and at O'Hare International Airport, both in Chicago, IL.. She has been invited and selected to exhibit as a contemporary independent artist at The Artist Project in Chicago during the Art Chicago Art Fair.
