William T. Ayton was born & raised in the north of England. He attended Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland, where he obtained his fine arts degree. After graduating, he spent time living in Madrid, Spain, & Paris, France. He then moved to the USA, living for 7 years in Brooklyn, NY, then moving upstate where his studio is a converted horse barn with plenty of space.
Important works include The War Room, a 4-wall immersive painted installation, & a series of paintings on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). His work has been exhibited & published extensively.
He recently (2009) published a poetry/art book collaboration with NYC poet, Eliot Katz, entitled "Love, War, Fire, Wind: Looking Out from North America's Skulll".
His work deals with myth & imagination, social issues, & the human condition.
