The newest Featured Artist on ArtistaMundo.com is Chilean-born Isabel Brinck. Her graphic design background inspires her use of color, form and space to create whimsical and vivid paintings with underlying meanings. To see more of her work, visit www.artistamundo.com/isabelbrinck.

Isabel discusses what inspires her work and her newest project exploring passion versus love:

Q: Where do you find inspiration for your work?

A: I try to find my inner core and reflect my likeness and image on my paintings, leaving a testimony to having been alive. I create paintings as complex as life, environments authentic and nourishing that explode when exposed to light where you can visually come and go as you please and each time experience an essence of something new, as life is, always in motion.

Q: What are your favorite subjects to paint?

A: Naming my pieces is as important to me as painting them. After painting a piece, I look at it, analyze it and then give it a title. The titles of my works clearly reflect the themes and subjects that I enjoy and that motivate me to paint. I use a lot of metaphors and analogies in my paintings, considering I do not like things being too obvious. Analyzing one of my paintings could have a thousand different interpretations and only I know what it really means; it’s my secret, between the painting and me.

Q: What is your newest series you are working on?

A: Now I am working on "My Passion Project." I already exhibited some pieces of this series at Art Palm Beach and ArteAmericas 2011.

I started this project in 2010 after a sudden spiritual interest to differentiate between love and passion in a relationship. After I investigated and asked many people for their opinions, I decided to paint and shape my own opinion in a sense of what passion means in a simple couple, in this case, a man and a woman. I am willing to work on this series for the whole 2011 year, and for the first time, I am pre-building drawings, which most of the time are inspired by real moments and situations of my everyday life.
